Genba no Nihongo series was released by 3A – the Japanese publisher of the popular Minna no Nihongo series. The books are designed to enable even beginner-level learners to get a good grasp of the Japanese required for use in Japanese workplaces and provide the cultural knowledge and a guide to workplace etiquette needed to work for a Japanese company.
This wordbook contains workplace words needed for purposes such as employment for non-Japanese workers and training technical interns and trainees, with an emphasis on construction and facilities. It gives explanations of words that are often being used in the workplaces in Japan but are not covered in ordinary Japanese learning materials, such as “the delivery date,” “assemble,” and “5S.”
This wordbook is ideal for those who want to learn the minimum words necessary for their workplace as fast as possible. If you refer to this book in your spare moments moving forward, it will help you expand your vocabulary and feel more confident while working in Japan.
Book structure
The book is divided into 2 sections: “Common basic vocabulary” and “Sectoral Vocabulary – Constructions and Facilities.”
“Common basic vocabulary” covers 136 words commonly used in almost every kind of job in Japan. It consists of 17 units grouped by a topic, such as “safety,” “meeting and gathering,” and “documents.”
“Sectoral Vocabulary – Constructions and Facilities” focus on more specific vocabulary and phrases that will prepare you to work in Facility Installation. In 9 units that contain 164 words in total, you will learn how to use words such as “construction site,” “heatstroke,” or “cement.”
Description of a single word
Every word in the wordbook is written in kanji, furigana, and romaji. It also consists of an example sentence as well as translations into 6 languages (English, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, and Myanmar). On the left of every word, you will find a checkbox, which you can use in order to mark a word you have already learned or a word that you still need to learn.
The book uses sentence patterns from lessons 1-20 of the Minna no Nihongo Shokyu 1, so sample phrases are very easy to understand, even for people at the lower elementary level.
