Part of a very popular series that takes readers right through the JLTP level, this is an excellent book designed to help you learn and practice your kanji and vocabulary to pass the JLPT N1 test.

The book is structured to be studied over a 45-day period of time — so doable in just 9 weeks, with weekends off(!!) — and is packed full of new kanji and vocabulary and lots of practice questions to build up the skills required to pass the N1.

Each day you do around 2 pages of kanji and 6 pages of vocabulary. The book introduces new kanji and vocabulary by grouping them together in themes. For the kanji section of the book, there are also “challenge” pages at the end of the nine weeks, which provide a series of review questions to make sure you have learned all the kanji and to understand where you need to go back and do some revision.

The vocabulary section has about 25 new words per day. There are good example sentences using the vocabulary with English translations, which is very helpful for those that get overwhelmed by Japanese-only textbooks, especially at N1 level. Following the introduction of the vocabulary, after each day of learning, there are some test-style questions to help check your understanding of the new words.

With the structured bite-sized layout of this book, if you are preparing for the N1 and want to fit your study into your busy lifestyle (something you can rarely say of N1 preparation), then this is definitely highly recommended for you.
